the wedge espresso

I have been a sad, deprived child lately. My last food adventure must've been weeks ago, which is way too long for someone who obsesses over it like I do... It's not like I don't have the time either, but if your friends aren't available to join you it gets a bit depressing. Anyway, that's why I was more than happy to visit The Wedge Espresso in Glebe with Anna yesterday! If you're Asian too, you might relate to our tendency to eat out... and have even more Asian food. Not that it's a bad thing, but eating at a hole-in-the-wall cafe was a nice change for once. By the way, I'm speaking literally when I say that this place is a hole in the wall, especially since it's a really airy space that lines the side of the street! It wasn't packed when we went, but I could see how it'd fill up quickly in time for brunch on the weekend...

The seasonal menu, iced tea, quirky interiors and iced mocha

After much deliberation I decided to go with the iced mocha, and lo and behold... it even came with a little scoop of ice-cream floating in the middle of it! I thought it tasted pretty good, even though it definitely wasn't what I expected at first. In fact, it kind of reminded me of my younger days when I used to dump copious amounts of Milo into a cup, add milk and just eat all the delicious chocolate left in the bottom. Don't go judging me okay, I know I can't have been the only kid that was guilty of doing that!

Anna's tomato and ricotta bruschetta, my 'The Henry' sandwich

Honestly, pictures can't convey the full awesomeness of what was in that sandwich. Egg, ham, gruyere cheese, avocado, and a good dose of greens... basically, it was a ham and cheese toastie on steroids. It also doesn't hurt that I LOVE gooey eggs of any sort, so this definitely hit the spot for me! Even though it was one of the more expensive items on the menu I'd say that the price was well justified, especially considering how full I was afterwards.

Banana bread with peanut butter dulce de leche

After finishing her bruschetta Anna decided that she still had room for more, so a slice of banana bread was in order. I stole a bit of it topped with peanut butter, and wow. The bread was so moist and faintly reminded me of my mum's spiced carrot cake, only better and flavoured with banana (sorry mum)! To be honest I'm not a big fan of bananas in their original state, but when it comes to breads and cakes? You could call me obsessed.

Well, I couldn't not have a photo of the aftermath. In fact, I'm already mentally planning the day I go back, especially since there were so many other delicious sounding things on the menu! In the meantime though, I think I'll have to settle for my sub par sandwiches in an attempt to recreate the experience... Anyway, I think that's all for today and I hope you somewhat enjoyed my food ramblings. Hope you're having a great week so far, and bye!

a cold snap

Thrifted anorak, H&M long-sleeved tee, thrifted skirt, Doc Martens 1460 boots, watch from mum

An outfit post? Is this the real life?! Well as they say there's a first time for everything, so this is just what I wore to uni yesterday. It's that ridiculous time of year when the weather's freezing in the morning and the sun decides to show itself around midday, so no matter what I wear it's a lose-lose situation.  The only good thing to come out of it is the fact that I can finally break out my Doc Martens again! I've had these babies for years now, but still haven't managed to break them in properly. In fact, I'm trying to wear them out more often now, but I seriously don't think it should be taking this long...

Anyway, you'll have to excuse my chronic bitch face and the fact that my skirt decided to migrate in totally different directions. Taking your own outfit photos without a remote is actually really hard, and I take my hat off to anyone that's perfected it... I think I'll have to leave off there then, because right now I'm procrastinating from an assignment and apparently that's prime time for my creative blogging juices to start flowing. Bye and I hope you're having a great week so far!

anything could happen

Just a few photos from last weekend, which was spent celebrating with cousins who coincidentally share a birthday! Don't get me wrong, I love going to kid's parties and all but I can't help but feel a little old when surrounded by so many babies... it didn't really help that the (younger) birthday girl's obsessed with Hootabelle, and I'm too old to even know what that is!

Anyway, the majority of my day involved lots of delicious food and chilling with the family, so what's not to love? Lately I've been feeling the stress of uni and where I'm even going with it, so it's nice to go out occasionally and stop myself from dwelling on my thoughts for once. Hope you're having a great day and see you soon!
