summer wind

Thrifted dress and belt, Betts sandals

Okay, I'll be the first to admit it – I'm not a huge fan of summer. I prefer being indoors where it's nice and sterile, so that stickiness or feeling of being burnt alive isn't really a sensation I'm fond of. However, if there's one redeeming thing about the heat it's the fact that you can just throw on a breezy dress, and bam! Your outfit's done without giving it a second thought.

I picked up this dress from the thrift store, surprise surprise. At first I thought it was kind of dumpy but I just couldn't say no to that adorable pattern, even though I have no idea what those shapes are meant to be! After taking up the shoulders and adding a belt, the dress is now a little more wearable and perfect for throwing on whenever I'm running late. It may even be a little too wearable, considering I've worn it too many times to keep track of who's seen me in it... Same goes for these sandals, which I've barely taken off since I bought them. The rubber soles mean that I miraculously haven't ruined the heels yet, so I guess they're here to stay!

  1. You definitely feel me on summer weather - I mean heat is okay but it's been so humid as well! I think I've been feeling sticky for the past week straight haha.

The dress is cute, love something that I can just throw on! It does look nice and breezy too, good for the weather we've been having!

    1. Stickiness is definitely the worst feeling to have! It doesn't look like the humidity will be letting up soon, either...

  2. Thrift store findings are always such a treasure! You found a wonderful and beautiful dress. I am the same with summer, I can honestly do without it for the most part, especially the humid type. x

    1. Glad we're on the same page! I can usually handle the Australian heat, but humidity's a whole different story haha.

  4. You are gorgeous! The pattern on the dress is fantastic too. I love that each of the shapes look vaguely like something, but they are all abstract as far as I can tell. :)

    1. Thanks Sarah! There are definitely some butterflies and flowers in there, but I agree that I'll probably never figure out the rest haha :)

  5. good on you for buying something second hand and then ACTUALLY altering it so you wear it, haha. i used to always say i would do that and i have actually done it a few times but eventually i realised i should just give up and stop lying to myself so now i only buy something if i know i already like it as is because i just never get around to fixing up. clearly you are better than me at that, haha.

    1. Haha, this was definitely a rare occasion! Usually I'm pretty good when it comes to fixing easy things like a hem, but if I'm lazy it just gets added to my pile...

  6. I'm not really a fan of summer either! I usually, shamefully, stay indoors where it's cool and shady. You look lovely here, I like that you paired this with those sandals - awesome :)
